Recently, I attended a presentation in a Conference about "Medical Tourism". This is not a totally new concept, but it is still in an initial stage. You might have heard that people from developed nations, and neighbouring countries like Bangladesh, Afghanistan etc are coming to some good quality Indian Hospitals for getting some costly surgeries done.
Medical Tourism, or as what one company calls as "Medical Value Travel" builds on the need for people to get cheaper yet excellent quality and reliable medical care and treatment, which would be much more costlier in their native country, or for which there is little or no expertise. Other countries like Phillipines, Vietnam, Thailand etc are also coming into picture, but the cost effectiveness, post operative care and quality of medical expertise offered by Indian Hospitals and clinics makes India a great market for this.
