Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad (CHA) is basically a tertiary hospital with facilities for specialised diagnostic, therapeutic & rehabilitative patient care. Spread over 110 acres of land, it houses a number of prestigious institutes and allied hospitals, the Gujarat Medical Council and Gujarat Nursing Council. The new building and infrastructure of CHA came into existing in 1953 with the help of benevolent donations given by Shri Hutheesing, Shri Premabhai and Surgeon General D Wyllie.
This hospital is one of the oldest, biggest and modern hospitals of India, treating about 6 to 6.5 lac Outdoor patients, admitting 70,000 patients annually. It performs about 26,000 surgeries and 6500 deliveries per year.
