For Australia's Gold Coast to boost its finances there is a call for a boost in breasts. Yes, breasts.

According to mayoral candidate Tom Tate, the way to improve the city's financial fix is not by polishing the city's seedy image but by touting the Gold Coast as the perfect place for plastic surgery.

Tate will advocate that medical tourism is the key to boost Gold Coast's finances in his run for mayor next year at the local government's elections.

''People could come here to have their procedures done, stay at the Versace, experience all the Gold Coast has to offer — and then just go home with bigger boobs,'' he said.

Tate, the 'boob-job' backer, has more than plastic surgery on his mind when it comes to ideas on how to improve the future of the 'Glitter strip'.
