The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has moved to strictly require all clinical laboratories to be accredited by the Philippine Accreditation Office (PAO) to improve the quality and credibility of local medical and health care services as the country aims to get a greater pie of the world’s medical tourism industry.

DTI Consumer Welfare Undersecretary Zenaida Maglaya said this move is to ensure accuracy of medical test results by the country’s clinical laboratories.
