Someone is going to pay for the uninsured treatment and it is unlikely to be the uninsured individuals. They are, unfortunately, uninsured for a reason.
No doubt, medical tourism to foreign countries will continue to occur for price-conscience individuals. I would hate to see the world-class medical and dental care in the U.S. suffer the same fate as the automobile industry because the government wants to intervene in a patient’s relationship with his or her physician. The government, to date, has proposed many plans to provide healthcare to individuals who fall through the cracks or elect not to pay for health insurance.
By attempting to pay for the care of the uninsured, are they potentially jeopardizing the quality of care in our medical-delivery system?
